This program is based on the Agreement of International Academic Exchange and Memorandum of Students Exchange between Toyama Medical and Pharmaceutical University (TMPU) and Peking University Health Science Center (PUHSC) signed in 1998. In this program, the ONSEN Hiroto fund is used for supporting the students and researchers from PUHSC to study at TMPU.
ONSEN Hiroto Fund was founded by Mr. ONSEN Kenneth following the unfulfilled wish of ONSEN Hiroto who was a student graduating from the medical school of TMPU. The fund aims at providing foreign students and young researcher from Asian countries with scholarships and encouraging their research.
The aim of the program:
1. enhance educational exchange;
2. Promote mutual understanding;
3. further develop the friendly relationship between both sides;
Two possible candidates of the program for each year:
1. One medical student from PUHSC, especially the postgraduate
2. One professional young researcher from the research institution of PUHSC
Eligibility requirement:
1. Below 35 years old, highly promising.
2. Master Japanese or English
3. Recommended by the President of PUHSC or Deans of schools of PUHSC;
4. to the postgraduate, must be well-performed with excellent academic record and personality;
5. to the young researcher, must be well-performed academically, self-aspirated in research and with sound personality.
6. be able to start study at TMPU in the same year of the application.
Scholarship program of Daiichi Pharmaceutical Co. Ltd
In the year 1995, director of Japan Daiichi Pharmaceutical Co. Ltd initiated this program. It has provided scholarships for on-campus students from five medical schools, respectively, Beijing Medical University, China Medical University, Sun Yat-Sen Medical University , West China Medical University, and Harbin Medical University. Every year, 75 students, 25 post-graduates and 50 undergraduates are conferred with this scholarship.
